Echoes of Mercy & Hope Foundation (EMHF) is a Non governmental Organization that was set up to make a change in our society. EMHF targets young street girls between the ages of 12-17 years living on the streets of Lagos. EMHF current objective is to purchase a transitional home “a building has been located that will suit our purposes. However, we are 8 million naira short of our purchase prize.” (Fola Soyebo – Founder and President- Echoes of Mercy and Hope foundation).
Echoes of Mercy & Hope Foundation (EMHF) intends to work closely with The fountain of life church – Grace springs vocational Training center in Ilupeju,Lagos. They currently run a 4-Month Certificate Courses in: Catering, Bead craft, Jewelry and Accessories, Machine Knitting, Hat Making, Design and Accessories, Make up – Bridal, Fantasy, Fashion, Runway, Head Gear Tying, Special effects, Textile Design – Batik, Tie & Dye (Adire) and Full Screen Printing, Soap, Cream, Disinfectant, Air – freshener and Detergent Production, Event Management and Planning, Design and Decoration of Indoors and Outdoor Parties, Soft Furnishing.
The EMHF home will represent a safety net to catch a few and provide a change in direction and hope to the hopeless. It will be an ark where the downtrodden will find God’s love, care and direction.
EMHF is blessed with 11 unit heads that have used their private funds to get the NGO started and working progressively to meet the missions and visions. Currently, the board members of EMHF are steadfast in their goals of purchasing a permanent house unit for the girl on the mainland in Lagos. The EMHF first ever fundraiser -raffle draw which concluded on the 5th of January, 2013 was a huge success. Many friends of the girls’ home took it upon themselves to sell raffle tickets. A total of 5 Million Naira tickets were given out and approximately 1.7 Million Naira have been received to date and more funds are still coming in. All prizes were donated by sponsors who believe in the main objective of the girls’ home. All raffle prizes were donated, the grand prize was a return ticket to Exotic Ghana from Sathos Travels and lots of giveaway prizes from local businesses which include classic hats from John 3v3 hats and book vouchers from Laterna Ventures to name a few.
Echoes of Mercy and hope foundation have been pleasantly surprised and encouraged by the involvements of many youths in terms of selling tickets and raising a general awareness amongst their peers about how they need to make a difference in our society.
Truly Echoes of Mercy and hope foundation is blessed to be a blessing to the society. Our motto is “Together we can change the world” and we constantly strive to achieve our goals. EMHF is still in need of support and are appealing for financial contributions from corporate sponsors, Local businesses and individuals towards the purchase of the girls home.
